Artist's statement
I think art should be fun – fun to create and fun to see. I hope my art makes people smile. I started my art life with color crayons, the same as most children. Sometimes I feel like I’m still a kid playing with color – just with better materials.
There is beauty in the things we see and use every day. Painting these things allows me to explore what makes each unique and, hopefully, help the viewer see them in a new way. For instance, what would it be like if the figurines that decorate many homes came to life and decided to explore? By painting similar subjects several times, such as the Vases series or Crystal and Critters series, I can explore a subject more fully and see more.
